Keeping your device clean
- Wash hands prior to using the device
- Sanitize devices and parts in between each use and each user
- Utilize complete sanitization process prior to storing device and/or device parts
Suggested cleaning products
- 70% or greater Isopropyl alcohol
- Microfiber Cloth
- Kimtech Science Task Wipes
- Individually Wrapped Sanitizing Hand Wipes
Cleaning instructions by device
HoloLens
Device:- Remove any dust by gently wiping with a dry lint-free microfiber cloth.
- Lightly moisten the microfiber cloth with medical 70% isopropyl alchohol, and then gently wipe the surface of the device.
- Let it dry completely.
- To clean the brow pad, wipe with a cloth moistened with water and a mild antiobiotic soap.
- Let it dry completely
- DO NOT leave alcohol sitting on any portion of the device for a prolonged period. Always follow with wiping off with water and cloth.
- Purell wipes can be applied in limited use to clean the surfaces. The cleaning guide above is the recommended method.
- Clorox, Lysol, and similar bleach-keeping wipes are not recommended for use. It is acceptable to use for critical situations, when nothing else is available.
- DO NOT use any lens cleaners for cleaning the HoloLens.
Magic Leap
External facing optics/lens:- Use the provided pink microfiber cloth. Gently rub the optics in a circular motion.
- Use an alcohol pad to wipe down. Take care not to let the alcohol pad touch or be used on any sensor housing or the lens of the device.
- Use an alcohol pad to wipe down the outside surface both top and bottom. Take care to avoid too much moisture or pressure on the LED display or capacitive power button.
- Use an alcohol pad to wipe down the external housing where the Control is commonly held.
- Leading from the belt pack to the headband – use an alcohol pad to quickly wipe down the cables.
- Follow up by using a dry wipe and gently wipe away any residual moisture.
- DO NOT leave alcohol sitting on any portion of the device for a prolonged period. Always follow with wiping off the water and cloth.
iPad
Device:- Unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider).
- Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
- Avoid getting moisture in openings.
- DO NOT use window cleaners, household cleaners, compressed air , aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide to clean the iPad.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands.
- DO NOT use abrasive materials to clean. Rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will diminish the oleophobic coating effect and may scratch your screen.
- Using a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox disinfecting wipes, you may gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces.
- Avoid getting moisture in any opening. DO NOT submerge your device in any cleaning agent.
