For the best results, film your procedure using the native iPad or iPhone Camera app. This ensures the original video is saved automatically to the Photos app, giving you a reliable backup before importing into Maker. You can also capture photos and video directly inside Maker, though you will need to grant permission for Maker to save files to your media library. This prompt typically appears on first launch after capturing media. When filming procedure content, keep the following in mind:
  • Film in landscape orientation unless the procedure specifically requires portrait mode
  • Keep each video clip under 15 minutes. The server limit is 500 MB (roughly 19 minutes at 720p), but staying under 15 minutes provides a comfortable buffer. Videos exceeding the limit will trigger an error during import
  • Speak clearly and pause between major steps to improve AI-generated content accuracy
  • Film the operation, not the operator. Lecture-style or instructor-led videos where the camera is focused on a person explaining a task are not well-suited for procedure content. The camera should be focused on the equipment, controls, or hands performing the work. not zoomed out on the instructor.
  • Aim for a first-person perspective. Position the camera as close to the operator’s point of view as possible, zoomed in on the action. This approach also produces better screen captures, since each frame reflects what a technician would actually see while performing the task
  • Spotlight the hands and the work. If the procedure involves manipulating equipment, controls, or components, keep hands and interaction points centered in the frame. Tight framing on the operation is far more useful than wide shots that capture the surrounding environment
